Introducing the new West End Beautification Association logo!

Today is my birthday and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to introduce the brand new West End Beautification Association logo.

We are now an independent not-for-profit organization registered by both New York State and the federal government. We're ready to mobilize our neighbors and our City Council behind our initiatives for 2012:

  • Tree Grates
  • A Sanitation Code Compliance Officer
  • Street Sweepers (the human kind)

Here’s to a new start for the West End Beautification Association!

Thinking of Spring...

Could it be that Mother Nature has mercifully given Long Beach a pass this winter after dealing her best shots in August and October?

Last week’s mild temperatures have brought early thoughts of spring and many West Enders are beginning to cast a worried eye on the effect of the hurricane on our dunes and beach entrances.

Minnesota Avenue resident Gemma Tansey (who submitted these photos) expressed her concerns to Councilman and fellow West End resident Mike Fagen.

Councilman Fagen has confirmed that the planning has already begun. Meetings have been scheduled with the DEC and Public Works this week and the rebuilding and replanting will take place in the spring.

So relax, root for the Giants this Sunday and we’ll keep you posted on the progress of the beach renewal.
